How to organize your X (Twitter) bookmarks

Updated · by the SaveMyPosts team

Bookmarks on X (formerly Twitter) are where good threads, sharp advice and useful links go to wait. The trouble is that they rarely come back out. This guide shows how X bookmarks work, what to do when the list gets long, and how to keep the posts worth keeping in collections you can search.

How bookmarks work on X

  1. Tap the bookmark icon under a post. On some versions of the app it sits behind the Share icon instead.
  2. Find your bookmarks from the side menu or your profile, under Bookmarks.
  3. Folders depend on your plan. X has offered bookmark folders as part of its paid subscription; on a free account your bookmarks are typically one list, newest first.

Bookmarks on X are private — the author isn’t told you saved a post.

Why the list stops being useful

  • Everything is mixed together. A writing tip, a job post, a recipe thread and a meme all sit in the same column.
  • Posts are short on context. A great reply makes little sense months later without remembering what it replied to.
  • Scrolling is the main way back. Bookmarks from last spring are a long way down.

Save X posts to SaveMyPosts

SaveMyPosts works from the share sheet, so you don’t need a paid plan, an API key or your X password:

  1. Open the post in X and tap the Share icon.
  2. Open the iPhone share sheet. If SaveMyPosts is not in X’s own share panel, look for More or Share via… — that opens the standard iOS sheet with all your apps.
  3. Tap SaveMyPosts. The first time, you may need to tap More at the end of the app row and add SaveMyPosts to your favorites so it stays at the front.
  4. That’s it. A moment later the save has a clear title, tags, and a place in a collection such as Recipes, Places, Products, Fitness, Ideas, Watch or Fun — and a notification tells you where it landed.

Text posts usually end up in Ideas, with a title that says what the post is about rather than who wrote it. Links to articles, products or places are filed where they belong.

The same works for LinkedIn

LinkedIn posts are another place useful advice gets lost. Share them to SaveMyPosts the same way and they sit beside your X bookmarks — a career tip and a writing tip in one searchable Ideas collection, instead of two apps you never reopen.

A simple system for bookmarks

  • Bookmark freely on X while you scroll — it’s the fastest option.
  • Share the keepers to SaveMyPosts: anything you’ll want to act on, quote or reread.
  • Create a collection per project — “Newsletter ideas”, “Job search” — with its own name, color and emoji.
  • Search by idea, not by author. “Advice about first drafts” finds the post even if you forgot who wrote it.

Questions

Can people see what I bookmark on X?

No. X bookmarks are private. Saves in SaveMyPosts are private too, unless you choose to share a collection with a link.

Do I need a paid X subscription to use SaveMyPosts?

No. SaveMyPosts works from the iPhone share sheet, so it works the same with a free X account.

Does SaveMyPosts save a whole thread?

It saves the link to the post you share, along with a title, summary and tags written from it. Tapping the save opens the post on X, where the rest of the thread lives.

Does SaveMyPosts connect to my X account?

No. It never asks for your password and never reads your bookmarks. It only receives the posts you share to it.
